Christmas Raw Food Recipes

I used to worry about what I was going to eat on Christmas day. I really wanted to be raw but I was worried about what people around the table might think, and also about wanting to have more than just a salad, no matter how much I enjoyed them normally.

I even toyed with the idea that, “well, it is Christmas, maybe I’ll just have a cooked Christmas dinner this year, after all it’s only once a year.” But somehow I knew that nut roast wasn’t really what I wanted. I wanted to do Christmas ‘raw style’.

So I came up with….

My own FULL Christmas menu, complete with mince pies and all the trimmings!

I’ve been teaching it to, and preparing it for, other people around this time of year ever since. It’s proved so popular that I’ve even had relatives comment that they’d prefer to be eating what I’m eating! That actually did happen one year, I found myself making a full raw Christmas dinner for myself and my family.

As well as teaching this menu in a class this year, for the first time I’m making it available as an eBook until midnight on the 23rd December, when it’ll be gone for another year.

Recipes in this eBook are:

- 3 different ‘mocktails’. These are alcohol-free juice cocktails to impress your guests, or just for yourself!

- Ginger & Orange Spiced Pecans.

- Rolled Courgette Ribbons with Sweet Beet Pate

- Red Onion Chuntney Mini Party Pizzas

- Chocolate Macaroons with Spiced Cashew Cream Centre

- Mince Pies with Cashew Icing

- Cucumber Canapes with Macadamia Puree

- Crumbed Portabello Meatloaf

- Herb-Infused Maple & Pecan Sweet Potatoes

- Creamy Mushroom Gravy with Caramelised Onion

- Pear & Dried Winter Fruit Stuffing

- Cranberry & Pomegranate Relish

- Kilted Sausages

- Christmas Pudding with Custard

This book is currently available for pre-order until 23:59 GMT on the 3rd December 2008, for the special price of £7.99.

The eBook will be delivered to the email you used when paying on that date (00:00GMT 4th December).

At 00:00 GMT Dec 4th it will go on sale for the normal price of £9.99.

And seeing as it just wouldn’t feel right selling this eBook all year round, it’ll only be available until midnight on the 23rd December.

As usual, this eBook comes with a full money-back guarantee, so if you’re not entirely happy with it I’ll refund your money and you can keep the eBook too.

[Update: As so many people ave asked to buy the book still, I've decided to put it up on sale again.]

With all the new information on the fraud that agave nectar is, will you be publishing a statement or explanation on what to use instead in your recipes that list agave nectar as an ingredient? We newbies could use some specifics such as how much of what to equal what you have in the recipe. Thanks!

Hi Carol, I’m aware of the conversation around agave nectar, but I’m not aware of agave being a fraud. Is it the rawness of it that you’re worried about or the fact that it’s processed? If you would like to use something else I would suggest grinding dates and water in a food processor to make a paste, which will keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks. You’ll have to use more date paste than you would agave, so tasted testing as you’re making the recipe will be your best bet.

It’s my understanding that the fraud is that some companies are actually bottling corn syrup and selling it as agave nectar.
Another alternative that is less processed than agave if you are not opposed to using it is raw honey.
Thanks Russell for your great recipes!

Woah! Nice work Russell. My mouth is seriously watering at the sight of the excellent photos. I can’t wait to try ALL the recipes out but I’m heading to the Mince Pies first. Your creativity with flavours has never let me down yet. Hope there’s more books to come!

I used one of those little tartlet trays so I think my cases need drying for another 8 hours or so. Here’s a somewhat blurry picture of one I put together just now.

All the taste of a mince pie without that sickly sweetness of a commercial product. I might put some zest in the next batch.

Is there anyway to buy this now? Is it only available as a e-book?

From Russell: It’s available at Christmas only as an eBook, yes. :-)

    Hi Russell,

I wanted to know if you could sale the Christmas recipe Book again. It’s still cold where I live and I love this type of seasonal food especially during the winter. I think it would make a lot of good sense if you could sell it once again.

I’d like to get a copy, if possible. You are an incredible chef and you are changing the way I eat food in a huge way. You are so gifted and talented and I’m inspired by your work. I hope that you’ll consider selling the e-book to me, the recipes look fabulous!

Thank you very much for all the hardwork you put into providing all of us with incredible raw food recipes.

    Much Love & Blessings!!

    Hi Russell,
Oh, how I wish you taught in NYC! Maybe I’ll be able to take some a weekend class next time I’m over to visit my family in Dorset (Poole). I’m writing to tell you the “buy here” link doesn’t work (at least, not on my computer.) I’d like to purchase the holiday recipe e-book. Please let me know what I need to do.
    Thanks,
    Patricia

I am a little late coming in, but I was wondering if you still have your e-christmas recipe book available? I would love a copy!
