Would You Like Me To Put My Classes On DVD?

Saved in:-   Events, Classes & Announcements

[Update: since I wrote this post I have produced homestudy programs on DVD that can be found by clicking here.]

It seems not a day goes by when I don’t get someone asking me if I would film my classes and put them on DVD.

So in my quest to make this information available to as many people as possible (and therefore help you get to the next level of your raw food journey) I’m interested to find out if you’d like me to do that? Would you like a home-study version of my class?

Would you benefit from being able to ‘sit in’ on one of my courses from the comfort of your own home?

If so, what sort of things would you like to learn about?

My courses have specific content at the moment but if there’s enough interest I’ll do this and be open for including extra information based on what it is you actually want to learn.

So do me a favour and in the comments box below leave me a comment about whether you think this is a good idea. And also tell me what you’d like to learn, it’ll be really interesting for me to see :-)

For more information take a look at the my other Raw Food Recipes.

I would love for you to put your classes in a format that could be shared online or purchased for home use!

I would be very interested in learning how to combine ingredients – is there a general formula for success? When you are trying to replicate a cooked recipe, what are the tricks for making things taste similar (or better) and getting a good texture?

  • http://www.marijanapontoni.wordpress.com marijana pontoni

By all means! Go for it!

  • jody

I would love for you to put your classes on DVD. I live in the States and unfortunately it would be virtually impossible for me to come to one of your classes personally due to the expense. Having them on DVD would let me experience one or more your classes regardless of my limiting travel ability.

I am just starting this raw food thing and am craving all the information I can get. I have yet to see anything like DVD’s to teach the raw basics. I would love to see simple yet tried and true techniques that would make my food preparation easier (and tastier!).

I would like to see the DVD be a replacement for a personal raw chef/coach to keep me motivated…so maybe have “levels” of raw education using several DVD’s. This way you can keep building our skills by having beginner, intermediate, and advanced DVD’s etc. JMHO

  • Margie

Yes definitely put together some educational DVDs. I’ll definitely be interested. Great idea!

  • Sandy

As one of those who have already asked about this, I obviously think it would be great – now even more so, after seeing the new ebook bonus mushroom curry video and the huge difference it made on so many different levels – the way it brings the recipe to life so it really inspires and makes you want try it – so much more than just reading a recipe, how it helps the understanding and organisation of the various stages and how it really boosts the confidence to believe I might actually be able to turn out something that could hopefully come somewhere near to looking and tasting like your wonderful dishes. I would appreciate more quickly prepared recipes that taste and look impressive – like your Tomato and Macadamia Mozzarella Linguine, and also low fat recipes. All the best and keep up the great work.

  • http://www.bubbbles.net Martine T,

    YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS PLLLLLLEAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSE………

Im with Christine.. i remember you refering to the principles of putting a recipe together which can then be ‘tweaked’ but i have no clue how to do it… id love to learn this.. but just all of the categories.. like breads, mayo, cheeses, fermenting, marinated foods, main courses, entrees.. its so good to watch you in action..

i’ve just watched one of your videos (cacao parcels) andit really puts it all together for me… probably more than that it is like having someone there encouraging me to stay with the Raw Food way of life as it is sooooo socially unnacceptable over here in Australia… its so hard right now for me to go against the grain of how Everything is done here in cafe’s and restaurants… (i know i have to grow with this process-its just hard right now, thats all)…

so I would LOVE LOVE LOVE anything you put out,, ive bought it all so far and i will continue to do so cause i think you are Awesome in your role with the Raw Food….

I luv your aesthetic too.. so keep up the good work.. and get that Media out there….

    Big Smiles
    Martine

  • Marion

Yes, a DVD would be awesome especially for those who live in the US and will probably never get to go to one of your classes in the UK.

I’ve been at this long enough to know quite a bit about the how to’s of raw food preparation, but the greatest deterence for me is finding the time to put it all into practice. I work two jobs to make ends meet and there seems to be no time left at the end of the day for raw food preparation. I end up eating pretty much the same salad or a bowl of fruit or some nuts, etc. because I’m hungry and these things are easy to prepare or reach for. But I’m bored with the same things over and over. Some new “quick” and easy delicious recipes would be SO helpful! Thanks for taking the time to read my comment.

  • Susan

Like Marion, I end up hungry with no time to spend on food prep, end up eating the same salad, fruit and nuts because they’re available.

I really could use some time-saving tips, and quick and easy recipes to make daily raw more interesting. Some great salad dressings that will keep in the fridge; quicker versions of some of those fabulous desserts; a simple no-dehydrator burger to make on the fly.

Rather than costly DVDs, I’d prefer being able to download the videos and books.

Thanks, James! You are the best!

  • Ross

Would love to see your classes on DVD, as Australia is too far away to make your classes! I would like to learn all the basics and everyday food items, just like the items you had on your two day class. Also knowing which items can replace others in recipies would be handy. Looking forward to the DVD’s!

  • Darla

I echo what Marion said. I’d also be interested in recipes to put together a meal for people with no experience in raw food.

  • Joann

Yes. As already stated it would be great for those of us not in the UK. A DVD one can review repeatedly – you always learn something new each time.

  • Manda

Definitely! I live in Alaska so obviously it is a bit difficult for me to try to attend one of your classes. I think it would be helpful to include recipes for items that are easy to throw together quickly in the morning, or maybe evening before, to take to work and school for lunches. I really love the idea of the No Dehydrator Needed book, maybe some of these ideas could be included as well.

  • http://www.thefakirmat.com Linus

We would absolutely love to have your dvd, just can not wait. Please do this asap! Take care all of you!!

  • Ang

PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEEE AAA DDDVVVDDD . . . my computer is not that up-to-date for downloading video.

Your presentation of food is outstanding. You deserve the Nobel Peace Prize! This food is bound to change the world for the better!!!

I wish I had a piece of some of your food right now!

  • Ang

P.S: Breakfast, lunch/entrees, dinner, and snacks please!

  • Tomlin Demetrius Campbell

    Hi Russell James,

I’d like you to put classes on making comfort food. Simple dishes that one’s mother would make. Not gourmet. Simple yet, very tasty. Remember mac and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, peanut butter and jelly. I would especially like to see you make entrees. I would also love to see you make African Amercian soul food. Thanks. Tomlin

  • Tomlin Demetrius Campbell

Another thing. Please make recipes for children. That would be great! And make it without agave nectar. Thanks. Tomlin

  • Katie

I’d really love to have a dvd available, as well.

I’m fairly new to this but would love to know the basic principle of a recipe that can be “tweaked”, as others mentioned.

And, like others, I need a handful of recipes that are really good and don’t take long too make. I have one raw cook book and have found that the quick recipes all taste the same, and the time-consuming recipes take a *lot* of time. The recipes (in said book) that are the best-tasting and take a normal amount of time to make are all desserts, but I need entrees.

    Thanks!

  • marian

I would love whatever raw food you create on a dvd. I have just read some interesting things about Irish Moss and would like any recipes which includes it. I would also like to create a Sunday meal for my family that they would love, (My daughter and husband and two children under six)., or just suggestions of what to put together for a hearty meal.
    LOL, take care.

  • Jessie

Yes, Bring on the DVDs- But ONLY IF…..

I would say the MOST IMPORTANT DVD you could make is *not* about recipes or how to combine ingredients but in HOW TO MOST SIMPLIFY FOOD PREP! I mean how to most easily cut up a mango or a young coconut, what’s easier when using x ingredient- knife or food processor, tips like using this kind of ring mold or other apparatus when making rounds in a dehydrator, etc.. Those kinds of instructionals on one DVD would be THE MOST INVALUABLE! The biggest pain in working with raw foods is the time it takes to prepare the ingredients. Help us to be more efficient chefs in the kitchen and you will win the hearts of your subscribers forever : -)

  • Roxanne

Absolutely! That would be wonderful for those of us that can’t attend in person.

  • John Chadwick

Hi Russell, yes please to the DVD idea. My learning of the raw food diet has increased 10 fold by coming to your classes; to be able to see them again at home would also be of great value, if only to catch up on things I have forgotten.

I would like to learn more about how to develop different flavours, like Indian spicy flavours would be a good one.

  • andra

I would also love to have the option of buying DVD’s. I, too, live in the USA and do not have easy access to the UK.

I would like the DVD’s to be similar to the McDougall DVD set–having different DVD’s covering different but interlinked topics. My suggestions for DVD’s include:

    1. Ingredients deconstructed/prep made easy dvd.
    2. Staple recipes–soups, salads and beyond dvd.
    3. Raw challenges deconstructed–on the go, budget issues, bordem dvd.
    4. entertaining–tips, recipes, etc.
    5. Health challenges and meal planning–recipes, tips etc dvd.

And then have a few more to cover other issues.

    Good luck! andra

  • Kay Johnson

Yes I think that would be a great idea. I live in Cheshire and struggle to get to your events.

  • Kathy I

To be able to access and watch your teaching course would be awesome.

  • Maria Szeto

Definitely you should make DVD/e-video for those can’t attend your class, someone like me living oversea.
I have order the ebook so to get the video, they are very useful. I think DVD/video certainly can help you too in opening a bigger market.
I hope you can show us more tips in video, like how to prepare food, making sauce, etc.

    Thanks for the bonus video.
    Maria

  • Marsha

My biggest issue of need is while perusing recipes to meet a hunger or desire….I find a recipe only to notice it has to be dehydrated 24 hours, etc.

I want to eat it now, not in 2 days.

Also I’d like to be taught how to exchange ingredients in a cake, pie, ice cream into raw….i.e. making sure something sets up right or a combination of ingredients makes the needed wetness, creaminess, etc.

  • Cindy Gonzalez

    Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just watching you make and explain how to make your wonderful delicious looking recipes is what I’d like to see — with plenty of encouragement :)

  • Judith Szepesi

I think it is a good idea, to learn at home also, if someone can’t be there.
To look at the video, how you make step by step the recipes and clearly explain everything also where you can get spacial ingredients or what is as substitute possible, so even someone who isn’t perfect in English and lives somewhere else can follow and buy or order what is absolutely necessary. As Irish moss or other unusual products.

  • Basiela Cox

Yes, please put your classes on DVD. I live in the USA and I would love to have a hard copy. Thanks

  • Nancy

I would love it. Living in the US and not being able to come to a live class, this would be perfect for me.

    Thanks

  • http://mamagoesraw.blogspot.com Lauri Drean

YES!. I have one raw DVD already and I really enjoyed watching the chef prepare the meals. She taught things like how to chop a red sweet pepper, and few other things that I’d never even thought about attempting in the manner she did. It’s not necessarily the dish that’s being prepared, but all the tips and knowledge that are being shared. That being said, I’ll contradict myself and say that once I’ve seen a dish made it’s less intimidating to make it myself.

Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

  • michele

Well, aren’t you going to be busy if you put out a DVD :-) or should I say DVDS.
I do agree with everyone that has left a comment so far. also, I live in Australia and so have the same problem as others cannot get to your classes. My reqirements as such would be a DVD that has recipes on foods that contain NO sweeteners at all. I am a diabetic and finding a good variety of recipes that does not have fruit, argave nectar etc or a 24 to 48 hour preparation time is extremely hard, so my diet consists of lots of Salads (boring after 24/7) and some dehydrated Falafels and Pad Thai and that is the whole menu 24/7…

Hope to buy a DVD soon!!

  • Dawn

Absolutely! I think you should every avenue available to you to put your recipes out there so poeple can enjoy your talent and creativity!

  • Debi

YES! I live in America but I am a big fan of your recipes and would LOVE LOVE LOVE the DVD. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kim

I would love to have your classes on DVD as I live in the United States and can’t attend your classes. I would love to see some helpful hints on how you organize and plan a weeks menu. I will read through recipes in the morning but alot of things need to be sprouted or dehydrated so that puts you a few days out fixing them. I think this would be especially helpful to people just entering the raw food diet. That way they don’t just end up eating salad at every meal. Your food is so beautiful and creative. Good luck in all that you do.

  • Kim

    Hi Russell,
I am also in the US and enjoy the newsletter and recipes, but would definitely like to see you in action, as I am unable to attend your classes. A DVD series would be greatly beneficial and I think focusing on how to incorporate many different foods for a healthier diet is important. I think many of us have a hard time with creating a menu that is more than a veggie with nut-sauce or a salad.
While you are traveling, will you be inthe US offering any classes?
    Thanks,
    Kim

  • Wendy

I would LOVE to have DVDs of your classes! I have been raw for 8 months now and still struggle because the food I prepare goes bad before I can eat it, or I just don’t quite make a good dish. I would love tips on storage, how much to make, how to help my family eat better and accept such a big lifestyle change, taking a regular recipe and making it raw, using ingredients, spices, etc. to make up new dishes, and anything else you are able to share. I have tried several of your recipes and they all turn out fantastic! You definately know what you are doing. Thank you so much! I hope to purchase a DVD soon.

  • Lucie

Yes! I would be very interested in learning techniques and how to make food look appealing ! A set of DVDs from basic to more advanced levels would be perfect! I hope this project will come true !!

    Thanks from Québec, Canada !

  • http://wakeupraw.com stacy

YES! What a thrill even to think of it.

  • andra

I am hoping we get an update soon on your decision about creating some dvd’s :)

And it would be awesome if you could do a USA tour, hitting both coasts :)

    andra

  • Abby Ingraham

Your website is amazing – I just found it in my raw food quest (I’m new to this way of life). I so appreciate you being generous with your expertise – a lot of us out here want to go raw but have no idea how to succeed. I tried awhile back but nearly poisoned everyone with lousy recipes – my kids still haven’t forgiven me !LOL

Yes, please do the world a huge favor and tape your classes! The world needs it!

  • Shannon Rose

ABSOLUTELY! I would love to have your classes on DVD. I’ve actually been tossing around the idea of moving across the water and getting to know all the great raw foodies there but in the meantime, this would be terrific!
As for the question of what I’d like to learn…probably would be a duplicate of the San Francisco Sour Dough Bread! hahaha. I know, fat chance, but it was worth it to ask huh? lol. It’s the only thing I’ve missed since going raw 8 yrs ago.
OK, so when can we buy the DVD’s?

  • http://www.groovehouse.com Bridget Kelley

I’m a huge fan of your site AND I own a CD/DVD manufacturing company in with my husband (we’re both raw foodists). Feel free to contact me if you’d like help with duplication. We’d love to help you spread the word!

  • Becky

I would love to get any DVD’s you make!!! I love your recipes and have been trying many of them…I would come to your events if I could, but I live in Canada.

I feel the same as many – I would love some more simple recipes that take less time. Or if you have some tips or shortcuts to make things easier in the kitchen with a raw food lifestyle (which I am trying to follow and successful about 90% but finding it does take time!)

Thanks for all you do – I hope you keep spreading the amazingness :) of raw food to the world!

    Becky

  • Debbie

    Hi, Russell!

I’m a Karen Knowler follower and have heard her sing your praises many times. I, too, live in the States and that has kept me from attending anything Karen has done across the pond.

I recently attended Living Light in Ft. Bragg and while I love having DVDs on hand, nothing compares to seeing a chef work up close and personal, getting tips/shortcuts first hand, and the comraderie shared with other students. Might I suggest a ‘raw foods training’ tour where you come to the States for a period of time and travel to different cities? Someone could sponsor you in each of these cities; you could connect with the raw food meetup groups and get the word out. I just thought of this and it would take some organizing but actually, it’s a fab idea.

Gee, do you need a PR person??? lol

Can’t wait to get in my kitchen with some of your recipes.

    Wishing you the best…
    Debbie

  • DJ

    Yes!!!

  • http://rawchefblog.com Leslie

Please offer a DVD on how to best use knives in the kitchen. Most cooking schools offer a class on this. It’s the one area I am
slow at. Purchased all of your ebooks, printed them in color &
made a cookbook/binder of all the recipes. Would buy DVD’s
as well because these are by far the best recipes out there.
(Although my stuffed cabbage & Italian meatballs are my family’s fave!)

  • Tomlin Demetrius Campbell

    Hi Russell,

Please show us how to make the most unique and delicious salad dressings ever! There’s too much of the same kind of recipes on the internet. Make new and refreshing salad dressings. How can we make our dressings taste like a chef made them?

  • Tomlin Demetrius Campbell

Again, come up with some vegan raw African American comfort foods that has the taste of barbecue ribs and chicken. Make something that taste like cornbread and blackeyed peas. Make some collard greens. And show us how to make sweet potatoe pie!
