Why I’d Like You To Choose Your Own Price For My eBooks

I’m releasing my inner-hippy.

And it feels good…

I was recently inspired by Tad Hargraves of marketingforhippies.com to think about offering my eBooks on a ‘pay what you can afford’ system.

When I asked, on my Facebook page, if you thought it was a good idea I was really energised by the positive comments on there.

And I know that when I get that physical feeling – that unmistakable energy in my body – it’s something that excites me and is something that I explore further.

Someone then suggested I check out Brian Johnson’s website as he does exactly the same thing. I wrote to Brian and said that I felt inspired to follow his example, and here we are…I’m now offering a sliding scale pricing for my eBooks.

The idea is this…

I want to create community, so that the people that can afford to pay the full price do, and if cash is tight someone who really wants to get my recipes can pay a lower price – still getting to change the lives of themselves and their families.

I’m also fascinated by this idea of ‘paying it forward’.

I told you I was releasing my inner-hippy :)

My sense was that the system would even itself out if I put my trust in anyone who visits my website. And also put my trust in the universal laws of energy exchange.

To my delight it seems to be working out perfectly. The best thing is that I get nice comments on orders too, from people saying that they can now afford something that was previously unavailable to them.

Some people have even written to me to say they paid the lower price and will pay ‘the rest’ when they can afford to. That’s not what I want. Even when you pay the lowest price you’re good to go. Feeling like you owe me anything is the opposite of where I want our exchange to be.

All the while people that can afford to pay full price are actually doing that.

Just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I offer the full set at a big discount than it would be to buy them all separately, which is my way of paying it forward so that someone paying full price gets a great deal. I honestly believe they’re worth that top price.

Then there’s 2 more price points below that which allow someone to choose a level that matches his or her means and resources.

It’s an honour to be in a position to be able to build a business this way and be part of all this good energy exchange.

It’s one sexy Universe out there.

I shot a little video on my eBook page where I talk about this at my current favourite place to get out in nature.

I was one of the people that loved your heart for doing this. I am currently out of work and this is a blessing like you would not believe!

If only everyone released their inner-hippy. The world would be a better place. :)

Thank you so much, Russell, for your kind generosity.  I have been wanting your books for a long time, now, but could not afford them.  This is really a blessing.

My inner hippy loves your inner hippy–this is a fantastically generous idea. And a great way to get more people “groovin” with raw :) Nice job, Russell!

Wow, I was very impressed by your gesture Russell. Ive been eyeing your books for sometime now and was weighing up if I should buy the e-books or not but after finding out about your inner-hippy idea I bought the books for the full price and very happy with the decision:)

Thank you so much for being part of that community I was talking about – I know all the people that can only afford $10 really appreciate everyone that makes this possible, as I do.

As someone who has suffered from psoriasis and been on disability for years, I can honestly say I have drooled over these books since a friend first told me of them. I really appreciate that I was able to buy them at a discount, as this was the only way I would be able to. Thank you so much Russell, your act of kindness is very appreciated!

    Russell,

I found your site a few days ago and have just purchased your raw recipe Ebook bundle. I want to praise you for the special deal you’re offering right now. When I was healthier and working I would easily have purchased the books for $50 and recognized that as a good deal already, but I have spent the last 4 years on disability due to stage 4 endometriosis which, until recently, left me in horrendous 24-7-365 pain and contemplating suicide. I didn’t want to be doped up on heavy narcotics that barely took the edge off – I wanted to be healthy and happy. After 2 failed surgeries (and with the support of my awesome friends and family) and my kick-ass research abilities (if I do say so myself :) I found a great surgeon who knew what he was doing and had a 3rd surgery that helped a lot, but my illness is still incurable and agressive, so though I’m doing better than I was I’m still in rough shape. I knew a change in lifestyle (particularly diet and exercise) was the key, but as I am already a strict vegan I was looking for a more natural, whole foods approach and discovered raw foods. I’ve only just started and it will be a while before I’m off disability on back on my own 2 feet, but I know I can eventually cure myself of this horrible illness that has plagued me since I was 18 (I’m 30 now).

Sorry for the long ramble, but the point is with disability I can barely afford the kind of fresh, organic produce and raw natural foods I need, so purchasing raw “uncook” books on top of that is practically impossible. There are a lot of awesome free resources online, but getting the sort of amazing recipes you offer in your books is next to impossible. So I want to say thank-you, thank-you, thank-you – I never thought I’d be at a point in my life where I was having to count every penny, but it makes you realize what’s important and that there are people out there like you who love and live what they do and really just want to help others like myself to live better lives. You made my month! Keep up the good work!!!!!
