How to Make Date Paste Sweetener

Seeing as there’s a lot of conversation going on right now about whether agave has a place in a healthy diet, I’ve made a little video showing you how to simply make a whole food sweetener from just dates and water.

I get asked about my views on agave fairly often, and this video provides an alternative for people who want another option.

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup soft dates, stones removed
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  1. Blend all the ingredients in a highspeed blender or a food processor.
  2. Keep in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. If you want a thicker paste (if the recipe specifically calls for it) then use 1 cup water to 1 cup dates.
