How to Make Raw Vegan Caesar Dressing

It's all in the salad dressing.

Finding a few salad dressings you really love can really change things for you (yeah, I did just say that and it’s not a joke), because no matter how quick and simple the salad is, you know it’s going to be a satisfying meal with a great dressing.

This creamy caesar dressing is a keeper for just that reason.

This will be good for up to 4 days in the fridge, and is just as good as a dip, as it a dressing.

It’s great on simple salad like the one in the pic, which is romaine leaves, olives, tomatoes, onions, avocado and pumpkin seeds.  It’s also really amazing over some kale leaves, wilted with lemon juice and salt.

By using a little less water when blending you can also make this a spread for sandwiches and wraps, which would be an absolute delight.

Recipe

Caesar Dressing
  • 1 cup cashews, soaked 2 to 3 hours
  • ¾ cup cup water (½ cup for a thicker dressing)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon tamari
  • 1 teaspoon light miso
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 4 or 5 grinds of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt 
  • 1 sheet nori or ¼ cup nori sprinkles

 

  1. Blend everything but the nori in a high speed blender until smooth.
  2. Add in the nori and pulse until you have small flecks in the dressing.
  3. Use as a dressing for salads or as a dip or spread in sandwiches and wraps.
  4. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

    I’m allergic to cashews. And Brazil nuts. Almonds don’t make this dressing creamy. Would you have any suggestions ? Thank you for your time.

    My husband has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, we are now both eating as raw as possible, as I know this will be beneficial for him…
    Off meat, dairy & sugar….
    What do you suggest as the best possible food for him?

      Hey Siobhan, thanks so much for stopping by.

      I’m no doctor, so if you’re not already, I’d highly suggest working with some kind of natural doc on this. With that caveat, the numerous stories I’ve heard of healing have been from people that have focussed on the greens and green juices with as little sugar as possible. Wheatgrass also seems to be of huge benefit. The Hippocrates Institute are experts in this.

      I’ve also noticed that thoughts and frame of mind play a huge part. Comedy, humour, gratitude love and forgiveness all seem to come up a lot, as well as meditation and yoga. Even a restorative type of yoga such as Yin Yoga, if something more dynamic is too much.

        I came across this documentary about an alternative cancer treatment, Gerson Therapy, and have to pass it on. The name of the documentary is ‘Dying to Have Known’ and you can view it for free on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVeyHsC4P20.. it is very compelling and if you want an alternative to chemo therapy and drugs, you might want to check it out. This documentary is made by someone not associated with Gerson, who did research on it. Hope this is helpful!

        I love your inspired dishes and the wonderful simplicity and freshness of your videos. A few years ago you produced one with someone (was it Amy the raw chocolate chef?) on fermenting cabbage. It was brilliant for being the simplest instruction I’d found.

        When a couple friends asked me how to make sauerkraut, I intended to send them that video but couldn’t find it ANYWHERE. I would love it if you could post (or repost?) it to your youtube channel.

      I’ve been high raw for 4 years and have acute auto-immune issues. Raw has healed my thyroid and I’ve been privileged to find the best raw foodists and expert wellness ND., Naturopathic Doctors Please go to Dr. Morse on you -tube and learn about the great lymphatic system. Once you find out about this you will feel so much confidence that cancer can be healed and is healed naturally again and again.

      Eating fruits (no matter what people say ) are the most healing foods, then veg of course. For cancer, high fruit is key Dr Morse will explain why. I can’t emphasise enough that is what we DON’T put in our bodies is the most important. No chemicals, no toxins, no mucus forming foods, no meat (acid and purifying) no dairy (acid and mucus forming, this includes yoghurt, no tinned foods (metals) no packaged food (chemicals), no wheat (as this kills the tiny hairs in the gut and this leads to malabsorption)

      To succeed I think you need to be realistic and practical about the foods you like to eat and swap for raw as much as possible. You need to invest in raw bread as bread is the hardest to give up. You need to get your raw treats in place, you raw snacks in place. Your crunchy raw in place, your sweet milk (plant milk) in place, and tastey raw dressings and sauces, because then you will succeed.

      Raw chef will keep you right. Just eat high fruits organic fresh foods leafy greens and veg and you’ll do great. The only foods that are going to bring you the very best results quickly are fruits. People can dispute this( because they don’t understand acid and alkaline foods in relationship to cellular waste) but as Dr Morse saves a lot of lives, including many people from the Hippocrates Institute (unfortunately Hippocrates only have half their info correct. Dr Morse has had people from Hippocrates with large tumours still and cleared that tumour in two months) then go with the man saving the most lives. Dr Morse. x
