This week my friend Danielle Marchant, who runs an international coaching business is on the show. One of the the things she’s best known for and is getting even better known for his her Pauses Retreats. These come in a variety of flavours, if you like. Mini Pauses, day long Pauses, and week long Pauses as well. A Pause is taking a break from your daily life to reflect, to plan, to process, and essentially just taking a break that so many of us don’t take for ourselves.

We tend to just roll from one thing into the other without really thinking about how the last experience went and the lessons we can learn from it. The process that Danielle shares with us is not just about New Year’s resolutions. It is a very unconventional process to help you move from whatever phase you are in, on to your next phase. As you experience changes in your life, there are so many opportunities to assess and experience rebirth.

Danielle facilitates this process over the course of a day and has other coaches in her business that do this. Her mission is to help others to press pause, take stock, learn some lessons and congratulate themselves along the way as well.

More About This Episode:

Danielle grew up in little fishing village in Cornwall. In her life, she’s skydived and heli hiked on glaciers in New Zealand. She’s danced until dawn in Rio and trekked the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. What’s more, she’s dived with sharks, sea-lions, and penguins in the Galapagos Islands. Her life was anything but quiet, and all of it was fabulous, until life gave her a wake up call. In 2011 Danielle woke up one day burnt out to the core. She could not even get to out of bed.

She had officially pushed herself beyond her limits and her body could no longer sustain the breakneck pace. Danielle knew that she would be faced with some major long term illnesses if she didn’t make a change, and quickly. The breakdown and burnout was the most painful experience of her life. She felt weak and alone, and yet through those tough moments, managed to slow down the mind chatter and adrenalin.

Her extreme lifestyle needed extreme recovery, and through this, her coaching business was born. Danielle had always been a coach, but suddenly the way that she was coaching changed. She started slowing down the pace instead of trying to quickly reach an outcome. Her burnout gave birth to her signature Pause Retreats, which are designed to help you slow down and reconnect to your heart so you can flow rather than fight with life.
